Don’t Put All Your Eggs in One Basket

Did this post remind you of Easter? It’s December so it’s reminding us that Spring is around the corner. Just like we all have our favorite season, we all have our favorite marketing channel. For us here at Simplified Marketing Services this channel is Social Media.

However, just because it is our favorite does that mean we should focus all of our marketing efforts on social media? Absolutely not! This year alone, Instagram has gone down over 3 times. People were freaking out. Waiting hours for Instagram to start working again. Hitting refresh again and again and again. Do you know who wasn’t freaking out? People who had other ways to communicate with their community.

Let’s touch on different ways to market your business and build a community.

Social Media

Social Media is one of the most popular ways to market our business. There’s Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, etc. Plus the majority of people and businesses are on social media.

But what do you do when social media goes down? After all, you don’t own your social media channel.

Social media is a great way to build your community but always have a lead magnet in your bio or somewhere to send them so you can other ways of connecting with your community. Let people know you have other marketing channels such as a podcast or Youtube channel.

Email Marketing

Good ole fashion emails! Email marketing is not dead. In fact quite the opposite. With social media going down quite a bit this year, business owners have been thinking of other ways to communicate with their community. When social media did go down a lot of us were able to continue to connect with our community via email.

Choose an email marketing platform and create a lead magnet to start getting people on your list. We here at Simplified Marketing Services love Mailerlite.

The one thing we love about email marketing is people are signing up for your list, which means this audience is already warm.

Podcast

Podcasts are so popular. We love consuming them. If you love to talk and educate, then podcasts may be perfect for you. A lot of podcasts have loyal listeners who listen every week like clockwork.

Podcasts are an amazing way to build a community of loyal listeners plus it positions you as the expert in your field.

Other Platforms

Recently people have been leaving major social media channels and focusing on building their community on other platforms like iheart or Mighty Networks.

If social media isn’t for you, but you still want to grow a community, then consider looking into other platforms.

You want to diversify your content and have other means of communicating with your community. Take a look over your business and look at what form of content you are putting out

Every piece of content you put out should have a purpose. You should have a marketing strategy for each platform you are on.

Don’t put all your eggs in one basket!
